What Are Honeysuckle Bears?

Honeysuckle Bears are limited edition collectors' bears made in the depths of rural Wiltshire. The bears are grouped into families which are named after plants and trees found in the English Countryside. Very often these reflect the colour or the style of the bears. 

All the bears are unique, one off creations. If a bear you like has been adopted please ask, as a similar one can be created. You can view a photo album of adopted bears by visiting the 'Adopted Bears' page and clicking on the link.

All Honeysuckle Bears are made from German Schulte mohair. They have glass eyes and are jointed, therefore they are not suitable as toys. They are only suitable for 14 years and above.

                                        Happy Birthday Honeysuckle Bears!

Honeysuckle Bears is one year old! I've had a very successful year of creating and selling my unique hand made bears. I've attended some shows and continue to sell bears through 'Marlborough Art and Craft'. I have sold bears who were destined for American life and have a bear living in Canada. There is another bear, Hector, who is currently travelling the world as a 'toy voyager. I am continuing to create bears, all be it at a slower pace, this year. My husband & I have bought a farmhouse in France and I'll be concentrating on getting that up together. However, bears will still be available through my website and at Marlborough this year and I'll still be working on commissions. If there's anything you'd like please do get in touch.

Each bear takes on average eight to ten hours to make, from cutting the fabric to the last stitch and final hug! The only exceptions are the bear cubs, these can take anything up to sixteen hours to make due to the complexity of the design.

Hand Knitted Garments For Your Bear:

In addition to purchasing a bear you can buy an additional hand knitted garment, designed specifically for your bear by Hilary Downham, a local, Wiltshire knitwear designer. You can see further examples of the garments on the  Adopted Bears page.                                                       Please add £5 to your order and specify preferences in terms of colour and style. Alternatively you can leave the style and colour as a surprise and allow Hilary to design specifically for your bear. Please allow an extra five days for delivery as garments are knitted to order.
